In the magazine Vanity Fair from July 2003 the magazine featured her as one of the hot teenage stars of the year. In 2004 Vega recorded two films: Sleepover, and State's Evidence. She played an online bullying victim in Lifetime's TV movie Odd Girl Out the following year. She was in a filmed television film in 2006 called Walkout. The year 2007 she completed filming Remember the Daze which was only released in limited theatres. Repo is her final movie. The Genetic Opera, which came out in 2008. ([10]) Vega was confirmed to play the leading character of Helix composed and directed by Aram Rappaport. Helix began filming in Chicago beginning in March of 2008. The role was initially cast for this year's Robert Rodriguez film Shorts, but due to being located in Australia for the filming of Broken Hill, she had to be recast. Kat Dennings replaced her. Penny played her Broadway character in Hairspray. She played Ruby Gallagher in the ABC Family sitcom Ruby & the Rockits which included Patrick Cassidy and David Cassidy. Vega is Wick who is a character from The Devil's Carnival from 2012, a film by director Darren Lynn Bousman. Screenwriter Terrance Zudunich was previously a part of Vega in the form of Repo!
